The Story Behind The Upgrade
We recently installed an FD30s external fire door for a flat entrance in Burntisland, helping bring the property in line with current Scottish fire safety regulations.
For many flat owners, compliance isn’t always about major renovation - sometimes it’s about ensuring key elements, like the entrance door, perform as they should in the event of a fire. In this case, the existing door no longer met the required fire-resistance standards, making an upgrade necessary.
The new FD30s fire-rated door provides a minimum of 30 minutes of fire resistance when correctly installed, helping to slow the spread of fire and smoke between the flat and communal areas. Just as importantly, it maintains everyday practicality - operating smoothly while offering solid construction and improved insulation.
As with all fire door installations, attention to detail matters. The door was measured carefully and fitted to manufacturer specification to ensure it performs properly, not just on installation day, but long term.
The result is a flat entrance that feels secure, compliant and ready to meet current Scottish standards - offering reassurance to both the homeowner and the wider building.
